You just have to go there. The food is pretty fantastic and the service is top notch. They are extremely friendly and attentive without even a hint of snootiness. Ask for Francisco. Order the charcuterie plate. Trust me. Just do it. Caesar salad prepared tableside was fantastic, duck confit and ribeye were both great. Dessert was heavenly. Try the bread pudding and the apple walnut gallette. The walnuts have a hint of thyme. Mighty fine. We also sampled some cornbread sorbet. You wouldn’t believe how good that was. Top it off with a tawny port and the ambience complete with the piano stylings of English Bob as they call him, and it makes for one hell of a night. I can’t say enough about the atmosphere. There was no hint of celebrity chef pompousness. It was jsut fantastic. Period. Relaxed and elegant. Perfect. Good job, Chef E. See my tawny port, attached ;)

See, I’m just way too uncultured. My usual culinary decisions are, “Nuggets or Cheeseburgers.” When McDonald’s got chipotle snack wraps, it seemed like high class grub to me. :)

That said, Port makes my head swimmy way too fast. And it’s always so darn sweet. I need like, diet port or something.

lol… diet port.

See, that’s what so great about tawny port. It is darker and has a more caramel, nutty flavor from age. Awesome. It doesn’t have that knock you out from sweetness thing that a lot of ports do.

And, now I have to go looking for some tawny port. I’ve actually never heard of it before.

(I’m SOOOOO green when it comes to wine. I just try not to embarrass myself when pronouncing things like Pinot Noir, and such the like…)

You may address me as “All Mighty Port Connoisseur” — I heart port, especially tawnys. :-D Shawn, if you need some coaching let me know. Although I don’t know if I should publicly pronounce “oh yeah, I drink ALL the time…”. Hm.

Delmonico sounds incredible. I’ll make sure that I check it out the next time I’m in NOLA or Vegas. I’ve *almost* went a couple times in the past but your review has tilted me in the direction of must go. Yummy!
